O.k. Here we go! This is me trying to add photo's of the current library work station and the getting to know your library activity. Wish me luck..

1.Teachers and students interact with this activity in a number of ways. They can work as individuals, pairs or groups in order to locate all areas etc. The labels can be removed from the wall and handed out to children as a scavenger hunt type activity and of course there is always the race is on challenge where the person, pair or groups to locate all items on the list first is the winner. Of course with the youner classess a little a a time is always a better option. I would love to hear what others think and to hear about what you are trying in your library. = D

2. At the moment there is no real work space as we are in a classroom waiting for the new library to be completed. Poor Carol just finds a spot a goes for it!

Hi everyone,

How's it all going? I am struggling a bit at the moment as I have so much I would like to look at and am unable to secure release time at this time of the term! I have also requested a meeting with senior management and hope to get something happening this week! I have some photo's to post later this week! The big hurrah!...The building work has started on the new library so by the end of term 2 Te Huruhi should have a shiny new library for the children to enjoy.

HI

Hi everyone,
Finally got some time to have a play on here. Like everyone else, I really enjoyed the first day of the course and found it very informative. Going up to the National Library was great, it isn't just a place on paper now. Interesting being the student and given things to find, now I know how the new students at school feel.
Looking forward to day 2.

School Libraries Work

This article looks at evidence  from various states in the USA about how libraries make a difference to student learning.  What is the relevance to your school?

Tasks to be completed for Day 2

Task One
Read to students in the library; make this a planned activity as well as an informal activity. Keep some notes on how this goes and how you feel about it.

Task Two
Post 'before' and 'after' photos of your workroom on the blog or bring to Day 2. To do this make sure you click on compose on your new posting to bring up all the icons. To insert a picture click on the picture icon. The photos need to be small to be accepted.

Task Three
Create your own library Orientation task for students or teachers and bring to Day 2.

Task Four
Bring a book to Day 2 that you have weeded or that you are not sure should be weeded.

Task Five
Request a loan from CS (Curriculum Services) for yourself or a teacher. Use the online request form that Alice showed you. If the loan is for you it can be used for a display in the library or for reading aloud in the library.

Task six
Read School Library Works and make a comment about the article on the blog posting above this
